World Cancer Day is celebrated every year on February 4, World Cancer Day looks to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding the disease that is the second leading reason for deaths globally. This worldwide day is a 'worldwide joining activity' led by the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC) and is intended to encourage the prevention, detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer as early as possible. World Cancer Day is a global observance that helps raise people's awareness of cancer and how to prevent, detect, or treat it. 


World Cancer Day was first established at the World Cancer Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium held in Paris, on February 4, 2000. This day celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the 'Charter of Paris Against Cancer' by the General Director of UNESCO, Kōichirō Matsuura, and the French President Jacques Chirac. The aim to observe World Cancer Day is to reduce misconceptions about cancer and to help individuals in getting the correct information about it. It also offers a chance to have an effect in the improvement of the life of cancer patients and survivors. The theme for World Cancer Day 2021 is 'I'm and I Will.' World Cancer Day was originated at the first World Summit Against Cancer in 2000. It was held in Paris and was established by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). World Cancer Day has been recognized for over 20 years by groups and organizations across the globe to raise cancer awareness and empower support, action, and funding for prevention, detection, and treatment. a day that unites individuals, communities, and entire countries to raise awareness and take action. People, businesses, governments, and non-benefit organizations work together on World Cancer Day to help the general public learning the various kinds of cancers, how to look for it, treatments, and preventive measures. World Cancer Day aims to save lives by raising awareness and educating people about cancer. The day also serves to pressure governments and people to take action in order to prevent, treat, and control cancer. Cancer is a heterogeneous group of diseases that result from abnormal cell growth and have the potential to spread to different parts of the body. This important day highlights the requirement for urgent action to increase cancer prevention, early detection, screening, and diagnosis to save lives. World Cancer Day empowers all of us across the world to show support and take action.
